New Year...New symptoms!

Happy New Year to all my friends and family!!! I hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year's. Our's was filled with lots of family, food, and sickness. On Thursday, December 22 we celebrated with just my parents, Andrew and Monica, and Gregory! Joe and I had fun shopping for Gregory's Christmas gift...we found him a basketball goal that adjusts to his height. He will be a pro before you know it! Saturday was Christmas Eve and we went over to my parents holiday party. I'm gonna say there were at least 40+ people there. It was a tight squeeze, but it was cozy, the food was good, and we had alot of fun! Christmas Day was spent with Joe's parents and Lindsey. I got Joe some 3D glasses for our TV, and some new Adidas shoes. He got me a Sony Touch bloggie!! Which was exactly what I wanted! It's a mini-video camera that I wanted before the baby arrives. It's so cool, and I love it! That evening we went over to my Aunt Angie's house for dinner, and hung out with our cousins. The next day, the 26th, we headed over to Joe's Aunt Janel and Uncle Greg's house for brunch. And finally after that, we headed home to rest before work the next day. Whew! It was a long weekend!

The day after Christmas, I got sick. Everyone around me had been sick, so it was inevitable that I would be next. I had all the good stuff...stuffy nose, runny nose, coughing, and sneezing. And as you know, there isn't a whole lot you can take while pregnant. But I made it through and am feeling much better! Not long after me, Joe got sick. Same thing as me, but he is feeling much better too! For our New Year's Eve, Joe was still very sick, but we still headed to dinner at Pappadeaux. My brother had to work, and we wanted to be with him for part of the evening. My parents and G joined us, and had a great time! Andrew is a great waiter and knowing the GM is even better when you get your bill! ;o) After, Joe and I came home and rung in the New Year with just us two and half! It was very nice, and felt awesome to wake up the next morning without a hangover!

Happy New Year!

On January 5, I had my 7 month doctor's appointment. As the nurse was checking the heartbeat, she realized I was having a Braxton Hicks contraction. I couldn't really feel it, but she said it was normal to start feeling those around the 3rd trimester. She asked if I had felt any "tightening of the belly"...I told her sometimes I feel it after I eat, but I just thought I was full. Turns out I wasn't that full, it was a Braxton Hicks contraction. Anyways, Baby Joseph's heartbeat was good, ranging in the mid 140's bpm. My blood pressure was good. My gestational diabetes test came back negative, which is very good! I, however, have gained 6.5 lbs. Typically, you are supposed to gain a pound a week. So my doctor suggested I kind of watch my carb and sugar intake. So what do I do for dinner? I ate a big plate of spaghetti and loved every bite! Total to date, I have gained 18.5 lbs from what my at-home scale tells me. Which I think is still good, I will just have to make sure from here on out to not over do it with the spaghetti. =) She was also able to tell me that he was head down so that may be a reason as to why I feel so much pressure in my lower abdomen. Thanks Joseph! I love having your head down in my lower bag...I mean vag. (inside joke ;o)) My doctor gave me some recommendations for pediatricians, which we will start interviewing soon. We already pre-registered for the hospital. Joe and I also signed up for our Child Preparation class. So that will happen in a couple of weeks! I'm actually kind of excited about it, it's only one day, from 9-5pm and we get a tour of the hospital.

As for how I am feeling. I was feeling great! One day last week, I literally hurt being pregnant. My lower belly area had so much pressure! It hurt to walk! But I talked to my trusty girlfriends, who made me feel alot better. I came home, took a "warm" bath, took some Tylenol and felt so much better in the morning. The doctor said it was just my ligaments stretching. Fun! Today, I started to really feel the Braxton Hicks and my cankles, I mean ankles, are crazy swollen! Like, I'm talking, CRAZY swollen! It looks like I sprained both ankles. I am taking it easy tonight to see if it goes away by tomorrow morning.

Next appointment is January 20th! Yep, I am going every two weeks now! Eeeeek! Until then, I leave my belly pics...one covered and one bare belly! Enjoy!

28 Weeks and 6.5 lbs heavier!

Christmas is approaching!

The holidays are approaching! Ya! I love Christmas time! I can drink hot chocolate every day, relax on the couch and stare at our pretty Christmas tree, shop for the one's I love, and eat whatever is in sight! =) Less than 7 days til Christmas...I can't wait! Our plans for this year...we are spending Christmas Eve with my family. The Diaz's will be hosting a 35+ party, and I am excited to wear my new dress and super cute black boots that Joe picked out! He did a fabulous job! Christmas Day will be with the True's, and that evening with my dad's side of the family. The next day will be with my mother-in-law's family...whew! A lot of family and good food is coming! Before we know it, the New Year will be here! 2012 is going to be a great year, I can feel it!

I've been feeling really good in this 2nd tri-mester. I am hoping it continues. I am getting alot done at work and through out the evenings. Hardly any naps are being taken, shocker I know! I still sneak one in every now and then though. I'm enjoying feel Baby Joseph kick alot more frequently and harder. Joe felt him kick alot the other night. My slurpee craving has dwindled, and apparently I am in love with sweets now. Now, for you to understand, you have to know that I am NOT a sweets lover! I never ask for a cookie, I don't care for cakes and brownies...in fact, I hardly EVER eat desserts. But apparently, I am no longer in charge now. I ate 4 cookies at work one day, if we go out to dinner--I ask for a cookie on the side. I asked Joe to go and pick up donuts instead of our usual breakfast tacos at Kel's Diner. I made gingerbread the other night to have something sweet after dinner...I'm telling you, it's ridiculous! But delicious! =)

Other than that, next appointment is January 5th. Here are the latest pics...Tuesday I am 26 weeks, and officially 14 lbs heavier. I'm a growin'...and you can tell! To all my friends and family, I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Love you all!

Baby it's cold outside!

Hi there friends and family! Not too much has happened since my last blog...but a few milestones have passed, and this year is ending great! Yesterday, I had my 6 month checkup! Yes, you heard right, I am 6 months pregnant! Crazy, right?! Less than 4 months to go, 16 weeks to be exact. I had my dr's appt yesterday, and baby Joseph and I are doing great! Heartbeat was in the high 130's and low to mid 140's...depending on if he was squirming around. My blood pressure was great, and I have gained 4lbs which is right on track. I am now officially 13lbs heavier! And growing by the day! Next appointment is January 5, right after the New Year! Can't believe 2012 is among us!

Joe and I celebrated our 3 year anniversary on December 6. Joe's parents booked us a hotel room at the Hilton Anatole for our anniversary! We stayed there the night of our wedding night. That hotel is so pretty, and I love it! We stayed the night Sunday night, and then headed to dinner at Avanti on McKinney, which was delish! Joe decided it would be fun to drink a whole bottle of wine for the both of us. Such the gentleman! The next day we slept in, and then headed to the Dallas Aquarium for lunch and to see the new exhibits. We had a great day! My parents had given us a gift card for our anniversary, so that evening we went to dinner again, and then came home and relaxed on the couch! It was truly a fun, and very nice weekend!

As for the holidays, we put up our Christmas tree and decorations. We bought the baby his own stocking, and it's hanging next to our's on the mantle. As for the weather, it's getting colder! Brr!!! When I found out I was pregnant, I found myself getting very cold all the time! Instead of loving the 100 degree weather, at night, I was under all my blankets and a winter blanket as well. Being cold all the time did calm down some, but now that the weather is in the 30's-40's, I am always in pants, long sleeved t-shirt and sweater! I guess it's better than sweating in this past summer's heatwave. I will count my blessings. =)

As for baby Joseph, he is kicking more and more each day. At times he burrows down deep inside my uterus, and feels like he is just sitting or standing on my bladder. Very weird feeling! So I kind of lift him and see if I can get him in a better position. Joe has been able to feel him kick as well, and we have fun just watching my belly jump up and down. It really is the best feeling! My pregnancy has been pretty easy so far, and I am hoping it stays that way!

I have pictures to add, but they are at home. I will post them hopefully tonight or tomorrow. Huge baby bump pic to follow!

Our first letter to our sweet baby...

"Before you were conceived I wanted you. Before you were born I loved you. Before you were here an hour I would give my life for you. This is the miracle of life.” ~ Maureen Hawkins

To my sweet baby boy, Joseph;

There are so many things I want to tell you and so many emotions running through my head. Where do I begin? How can I put into words how much your dad and I love you already? Your father and I wished for you, we prayed for you…and you made our dream come true. You are OUR miracle.

I have so many hopes and dreams for you…and I know no matter what path you choose, your dad and I will not be standing in front of you, or behind you…but right beside you with love and support. We promise to let you be your own man, and make your own mistakes to learn from. We know you will grow up to be an honorable man, one who is respectful of others, lighthearted, and one who will be a true friend. You will come to find that your family will always be there for you, through thick and thin; keep them close to you.

As my father always told me, “You are my life!” And for your father and I, YOU ARE OUR LIFE! We promise to protect you, comfort you, and pray for you. Take your time and when you are ready to enter this world, your dad and I will be here for you. Until then, I hope you continue to grow and stay strong. We welcome you with open arms, my sweet baby boy.

All Our Love,
Mommy and Daddy

We are having a sweet, baby BOY!!!

November 10, 2011 was my 20 week appointment, and we were able to find out the gender. Joe and I both took half days from work and actually got to the appointment right on time. Shocker, I know! =) They called me back, and did the sonogram right away. The sono tech showed us the head, the profile shot, the feet, and the 4 chambers of the heart. All of it can be summed up in one word, AMAZING! Our little baby even waved at us, opening and closing their hand. 10 fingers and 10 toes! Heartbeat was beating at 135 bpm. She then zoomed in on some awkward looking part, and I just knew we were looking at our baby’s gender. I honestly ‘felt’ like we were having a girl. Joe was convinced we were having a boy. The sono tech starts typing…B O Y. Joe screams, ‘A HA!’ I swear he was going to start jumping up and down! He was so proud, his face was so happy; he was going to have a son! I was elated! I started laughing, because he was right, right from the start. I will now have two boys in my life…my heart is already filled with love for both! I wasn’t able to see my doctor, she had to go and deliver a baby, so I made an appt to see her the next day.

That evening we had dinner plans with our family for the big “Gender Reveal” at Pappadeaux! I made nametags and brought balloons in the color of what they thought the baby would be. It was a tie at 4 girls and 4 boys. Joe and I excluded, of course. We obviously couldn’t wait until after dinner, so we had both moms’ cut into the cake to reveal if we were having a boy or a girl. As they cut, they saw the blue icing inside. Everyone was excited!! They were all so happy!

The next day I went in to see my doctor, she just wanted to look over my sonograms, and check my blood pressure, weight, and things like that. I gained 4lbs which is right where I needed to be. I was able to hear the heartbeat again, and it was back up to 160 bpm. The nurse was actually very surprised we were having a boy; she said he’s an ‘active little thing’! But everything else looks great! Next appointment is December 8!

It’s still so surreal to me, I’m having a son! Wow—a boy! As Monica from ‘Friends’ said, “I’m going to love you so much, no woman will ever be good enough for you!”

I leave you with sonogram pictures of our sweet baby Joseph…and pictures from our Gender Reveal dinner. Enjoy!

Officially 5 months preggo!

Eeeeek, only 2 days until we find out what little BTrue will be!!!! Joe and I are beyond excited! Joe wanting a baby boy, and me--I "feel" like it's a girl, but will be happy with either. We started our baby registry, only a few items for now, we need to know the gender to register for all the rest. Joe took me maternity shopping last Friday, and my mom and I went and checked out Old Navy that Saturday. I'm set for fall, and can officially say I am wearing my first pair of maternity jeans to work. Other than that, nothing else has been going on...just chillin' on the weekends, watching my nephew who grows cuter by the second, and catching up on movies. Joe has become more attached to this baby, coming up to me and rubbing my baby bump and then walking away like it was part of his routine. Definitely makes my heart melt!

This post won't be long, as there is not much to report on, but come Thursday, I will have big news!!! Until then, I leave my 20 week baby bump...let me know what you think the baby will be!

20 weeks
P.S.--It seems I am starting to get that line down the middle of my belly! Oh joy! It's still very faint, but I can definitely see it. Good thing it goes away after birth. =)
